Welcome to Mr. Glen E. Powell!
A lifelong Covington County native, farmer, and respected real estate professional, Glen brings decades of experience, local knowledge, and heart to our team. We are honored to have him join our Merrifield & Pilcher Realty family! One of our newest members of our Merrifield & Pilcher Realty family! We’re thrilled to have him join our growing team and bring his experience and dedication to serving our clients across Alabama and Florida.
Glen E. Powell is a fourth generation of Covington County farmer and Cattlemen. He was born in Andalusia, AL and a graduate of Covington County High School in 1963. He graduated from United Electronics in Birmingham, AL in 1965. He was employed by Western Electric, a division of Southern Bell Telephone Company, from 1965-1979. He married Barbara Covington, and they raised four sons, Glenn, Tim, Joe, and Chris.
In 1979, after living in the Atlanta, Georgia area for nine years, Glen returned to Covington County to farm and raise cattle with his father, four brothers, and four sons. He built a home and became a vital part of the family farm.
Glen has always been very diversified and involved in his community. He served on the Covington County School Board from 1984-1990, was elected to the Covington County Commission 1996-2004, served as a director of FSA, Alabama Emergency Management Council, Kiwanis Club of Andalusia President, Covington Historical Society President, and Deacon of Enon Baptist Church.
Glen also has been involved in local business. In 1982, he became a realtor working part time and in 2007 he formed his own company, Alabama Land & Home, LLC in Florala, AL. Specializing in land sales, he became known as the “Land Man”, because of his extensive knowledge of the land in this area and the ability to sell it. With over 40 years of experience, he has worked with Land sales along with Single Family Listings and Commercial Property listings.
In 1984, Glen became manager of Carolina Eastern/Kaiser-Estech in Paxton, FL. In 1989, he purchased the fertilizer business and formed Paxton Farm Center, Inc. which included a retail Farm Store. In 2009, Glen sold Paxton Farm Center.
Glen joined the Covington County Cattleman’s Association in 1979 and served as President in 1986 and 2004. Since 2004, Glen has continued to serve as a Director for the Cattleman’s Association. In 2023 Glen was awarded the Cattle Farmer of the year at the annual Farmer’s Banquet.
A born farmer, rancher and Realtor, Glen remains active in buying and selling cattle and property. Glen loves the land and his family. He treats his clients like family with honesty and integrity.
